The redevelopment of the Devonport City Soccer Club is now under way thanks to a $385,000 grant secured by Steve Martin and the Nationals in Government late last year.
Senator Martin celebrated the milestone at the Club grounds with players and officials as well as Braddon Nationals candidate Sally Milbounre.
“This is a very important development for sport in Devonport. Works include a new change room for female players who until now have had to use the board room,” Senator Martin said.
“The upgrade will also provide better facilities for juniors.”
“Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in Tasmania at about eight per cent per year and I am pleased the Nationals in Government have recognised thqt with this grant.”
Senator Martin said it was just one of more than 100 projects worth in excess of $150 million the Nationals had committed to regional Tasmania over the past twelve months.
“While the money is obviously safe for this project, I again call on the Labor Party to backtrack on their vow to cancel others.”
“Each project builds a stronger community somewhere in regional Tasmania and each one is too important to play politics with.”
”Until Labor changes its tune, the only way to guarantee that all of these projects go ahead is to vote 1 Nationals,” Senator Martin concluded
