A key project on Sorell Council’s priority list will become a reality thanks to a $6m grant from the Nationals in Government, Tasmanian Nationals Senator Steve Martin has announced.
Senator Martin delivered the good news at the Pembroke Park in Sorell in the company of Lyons Nationals candidate Deanna Hutchinson, Sorell Mayor Kerry Vincent and other locals.
“This is not an election promise; this is real money from the 2018/19 Commonwealth Budget,” Senator Martin said.
“The Nationals in Government are delivering $6 million for the Sorell Pembroke Park Sub Regional Recreation Facility project to upgrade the indoor sports facility including basketball courts, gym, office, amenities, storage, canteen, parking, access and landscaping.”
“Deanna Hutchinson and I visit these communities, listen to what locals want and then I go and fight for them in Canberra.
Senator Martin said it was great news that Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader Michael McCormack had agreed to release the money.
“It is all about our agenda to get a fair share for regional Tasmania and help build stronger local communities,” Senator Martin concluded.
