Nationals in Government deliver $6.85m in funding for George Town Council

Key projects on George Town Council’s priority list will become a reality thanks to $6.85m in grants from the Nationals in Government, Tasmanian Nationals Senator Steve Martin has announced.

Senator Martin delivered the news in George Town alongside Mayor and Liberal candidate for Bass Bridget Archer and Nationals candidate for Bass Carl Cooper.

$4.4m will go towards the George Town mountain bike trail network, including the construction of 15 trails (100km) for various levels, skills park, signage, car parking and pump track.

$2.45m will go towards the Regent Square Redevelopment, including the installation of a new adventure based play area and playground equipment on Regent Square.

“I visit these communities, listen to what locals want and go and fight for them in Canberra. It is great news that Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader Michael McCormack has agreed to release the money.”
